Fun in Soho
Busy streets, fashionistas everywhere, and an undeniable energy. That’s SOHO in NYC.
In 2023, I spent half the year living in Mexico City. It’s a bustling, vibrant place, completely unlike anything I had imagined. The food was incredible, the locals were warm and welcoming, and to my surprise, the shopping was pretty great too. One day, while wandering the streets downtown with my wife, we stumbled upon a small shop that instantly drew us in. We made a deal: she’d buy something for me if I bought something for her. Deal! The result was this jacket I’ve been itching to wear on stage.
Fast forward several months (or maybe a year, who’s counting?) and I still hadn’t found the right show to debut it. So I decided to create the moment myself. I packed my bags, grabbed my horn, and hopped on the subway for an afternoon in SOHO to get “the shot.” Even after all these years, shooting in public still makes me nervous. But I laughed it off, soaked up the sunshine, and just went for it.
